Sandwich terns are occasional visitors to the Sussex shoreline. These shots were taken in August 2009. The pair (an adult and juvenile) were mingling with a small flock of black-headed gulls. The shots were taken on 16th August were with the Canon EOS 40D and EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens. For the later shots in the series I added a Kenko Teleplus 1.4x Pro 300 DG teleconverter. The sequence ended when the tide cut me off from dry land. Time to wade back to the shore! I returned on the 31st and was fortunate to get a second sequence. These were taken with the same camera but with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens plus UV filter. |
