The broad bodied chaser (Libellula depressa) is a found over larger ponds. The male is blue, and the female (and immature males) a wonderful yellow/gold. They are fast on the wing and provide wonderful aerial displays. When not flying, they often come to rest on stalks along the pondside. The first of these shots were taken with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens. |
