Raptors 2008

After a fairly quiet winter, the local raptors began to make their presence known during late March and early April. Many of my sightings were too fleeting to capture on camera, including one moment when a sparrowhawk flew over about 20 feet above me.

Over the summer and into autumn sightings were more frequent. The shots here are among the better I've managed. Often I'm photographing at a distance, and all too frequently into the light so none of these are as I'd want them to be. But it's progress!

There are more photos of kestrels here.
